I ran into this issue with my oldest. We were overseas for her 9th grade year where she took English 1 and Algebra 1. When she transferred back to DD2 we were told that those grades would be accepted. So we moved on business as usual. BUT when SC switch to English 2 the district suddenly required her to take it since it’s an EOC course. She’d taken an advanced composition class in lieu of the Eng 2 10th grade year. It was so frustrating because she had to “backtrack” and take it in the 11th grade. Despite me challenging it at the district level they wouldn’t budge. I’m now homeschooling her younger siblings for middle school. Because of my experience with this I’m thinking we will do VirtualSC just in case we need or want to transfer back into DD2. Another option I’ve considered is they can just attend a private school depending on what else is going on. Thank you for the insightful post!
